As a storyteller working in two mediums; literary and visual, I’ve never felt art and social-justice to be mutually exclusive. I believe all art-forms have the power to deepen human connection and create space for new thought and positive change. To that end, I founded MilagroGrande Films, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, film company dedicated to exploring films on social-justice issues in 2004 and have recently developed an after-school program called, Hip-Hop2Hollywood that teaches high school and middle school kids how to use film & music as an avenue to explore social-justice. Recently, I’ve completed writing my first feature film, Edges and directed a short film, Sacrifice for the 48 Hour Film Festival. Currently, I’m working towards completion of Take Me Home, a comprehensive, feature-length documentary on children in foster care. I’m also in production on a documentary titled, Miscarriage of Justice, a film on the criminalization of today’s youth.
